Lesson 3 of 4
Lesson 3
Talking back and forth
So far you have asked the AI a question and gotten an answer. Here is something wonderful that many people never discover: you do not have to stop there. You can keep talking, just like a real conversation. The AI remembers what you just said.
The big idea
A chat with AI is a conversation, not a single question. You can keep going, change direction, and build on what it just told you.
It remembers what you just said
When the AI answers you, it keeps that in mind. So you can ask a follow-up without repeating yourself. For example, if you asked for a soup recipe and it gave you one, you can simply say “Can you make that for two people instead of four?” — and it knows you mean the soup. You do not have to explain again.
You can ask it to change the answer
Did not get quite what you wanted? Just say so, in plain words:
- Make it shorter.
- Can you explain that part about the oven again?
- Actually, I do not eat onions — can you change the recipe?
The AI will adjust. You can do this as many times as you like.
You can change the subject anytime
You are not locked into one topic. Finished with the recipe? Just ask something completely new: “Now, can you help me write a thank-you note?” The AI happily moves on with you.
A conversation with AI is a back-and-forth. The more you treat it like talking with a patient helper — asking, adjusting, following up — the more useful it becomes.
A friendly reminder
If a conversation gets long and confusing, you can always start fresh. Look for a “New chat” button — it is like turning to a clean page. Nothing is lost that matters, and you cannot do anything wrong.
Your turn
Try a back-and-forth
Let us try a real back-and-forth. Ask Iris for a simple recipe — anything you like. Then, when she answers, ask her to change it somehow: make it smaller, leave out an ingredient, or explain a step. See how she remembers and adjusts.
